Ben Harper is a treasure of an artist. A native of California, Harper grew up listening to blues, folk, soul, reggae and R&B, and started playing guitar as a child. During his adolescence, he began playing acoustic slide guitar which would become his signature instrument. His funky, soulful and folky style with handcrafted acoustics and profound, touching lyrics make him a uniquely individual artist who shuns commericalism and remains true to his art.
This young artist is an exceptional talent. Born and raised in New York City's Greenwich Village, music has always been a strong presence in her childhood with her father being a noted jazz pianist, and her mother, a singer. Alana's vocal style exhibits rare tenderness, velvet strength and an effortless cool, and her debut album "Blame It On Me" is still a stunning discovery for people who have not heard it yet. Alana's sultry, bluesy style with elements of jazz and rock make her a truly amazing discovery for any music lover.
This artist was exposed to jazz at an early age by music loving parents, the legendary Clint Eastwood and Maggie Johnson. This accomplished jazz musician grew up listening to the likes of Miles Davis, Stan Kenton Big Band, and Dave Brubeck as a child. The young Eastwood jammed in bands as a teenager, but did not take up the bass seriously until after eighteen. He studied with the distinguished French bassist Bunny Brunel, and though he was lured by films for a while, he returned to his love for jazz.
His album "Paris Blue" is an exceptional expression of his pioneering artistry, combining hard bop with modern, and mixing in dance-funk. And Eastwood demonstrates his understanding and depth of jazz, much like the sounds once captured only by jazz icons such as Coleman Hawkins, and Chet Baker.
After a tremendous career playing trumpet with many stars including touring with Sting, Chris Botti has been making a strong statement as a solo artist. His fabulously sexy trumpet playing can be heard on many albums, such as Sting's and of course his own releases. His latest release "To Love Again" is soothing, sexy and classic and boasts several star appearances including Sting and Rene Olstead.
Ivo Antognini is an amazing composer and musician who should not go unnoticed. His music is beautiful and heartfelt. Like a fine wine will stand the test of time and get better with age, Ivo's talent will no doubt keep evolving to create more brilliant works of music.
Camiel's debut album "Sunset" is an interesting, soulful work that is smooth and melodic. The combination of his unusual house-sound and unique guitar playing flow with all the funk. We eagerly chose him as one of our emerging artists.
At the age of fifteen, Camiel's fascination with dance music led him in the direction of DJ-ing and mixing music. He started to DJ at small underground clubs and became a resident DJ for the famous Club Extravaganza parties. Today his style still is rooted in house-music, and the individual style and edge to his music is interesting, groovy and engaging.
Smooth soulful and sexy. This sultry contemporary jazz artist will melt your spirit with unique renditions of several classic songs from Sting, the Beatles and Bill Withers. Even more enticing are her heartwarming originals. Our favorite is "Drowning."
